Diamond Wedding Rings; What Many Fail to Consider

In all of the excitement while shopping for diamond wedding rings don’t forget to think about the practical side of your purchase. Not to be a damper on all of your excitement but really who wants to lay down thousands of dollars on a diamond wedding ring just to realize a few weeks later that it’s not what the jeweler said it was or that it’s too big and in the way.

To some of you the thought of diamond wedding rings ever being too big is absurd. But in actuality this happens all too often. After the first few weeks of wearing that diamond wedding ring around, many women decide it’s not really what they should have gotten.

Usually they still think it’s brilliant, sparkly, and beautiful but it’s too big. Women do a lot in a day. Whether they’re a hardworking mom or an out-of-the-home career woman, they’re constantly busy. Typing, filing papers, serving food, putting together bouquets, changing oil filters, making bottles, cleaning up after the children; whatever it is that keeps them busy it’s important to find a diamond wedding ring that fits their daily agenda.

I’ve heard way too many women complaining about their wedding rings. Someone pays them a compliment about how beautiful it is and their response sounds something like this, “it’s too big, I should’ve gotten something smaller because it catches on everything.” I’ve heard women complain about every aspect of diamond wedding rings.

Included in those complaints are: It’s too heavy, it’s too bulky, it sticks up too high, it’s too sharp, it’s too big, it runs into everything, it snags on everything, it scratches the kids, it scratches the customers, it snags on the sheets.

And those are just the women that are still wearing their wedding rings. Plenty of women don’t even wear their diamond wedding ring anymore because it’s such a hassle. Other women have tucked that bigger diamond ring away and have bought a ring that has diamonds that are flush with the band because it’s so much more convenient.

Not every woman is going to want a ring that is convenient. But many of them do and you really should take this into consideration when shopping for diamond wedding rings. Some of the diamonds are set really high; you could ask the jeweler if they could lower the diamond so that it doesn’t stick out so much.

Another great alternative is to get a ring that has diamonds flush with the band. There is such a large selection of diamond wedding rings to choose from that there shouldn’t be any problem finding one that she’ll love. Be smart about your purchase and consider everything when picking out that beautiful diamond wedding ring. You’ll be glad you did when your wife can function normally while wearing that brilliant symbol of love.

If a diamond is going to last forever make sure that she’ll wear it forever. For more helpful tips about buying diamond wedding rings visit Shayna Schnereger at http://online-jewelry-guide.com

Wedding Favors Look to History for Ideas

The history of offering wedding favors to the departing guests dates back centuries. It is said that in the 16th and 17th centuries love knots made of lace and ribbon were given as wedding favors to English wedding guests. Other European countries gave small boxes made of porcelain or gold with sweet treats tucked inside. Malaysian history has wedding guests receiving eggs to represent the fertility of the new couple. Spanish couples give orange blossoms while Italians prefer to distribute chocolate candy filled with almonds. Middle Eastern countries give each department guest five Jordan almonds to represent the wishes for wealth, health, happiness, fertility and longevity of the guest and the new couple. The Dutch gives five pieces of bridal sugar, each piece represents the same values as the Middle Eastern Jordan almonds. Russia and Japan prefer small sachets to rid the air of evil or bad luck spirits.

Perhaps by combining elements from more than one culture will result in some new and unique wedding favors. Consider finding small birds nests at the craft store and putting in them light blue five Jordan almonds so it looks like a small robin’s nest. Italian biscotti and coffee samplers with personalized catchy labels like “perfect blend - marriage roast” will bring smiles to guests. Theme specific soaps, sachets, or lotions will be appreciated by female guests while mini-bottles of liquor with personalized gift tags attached will appeal to males and females alike.

Lucky Fortune trinkets also make great wedding favors. Fortune cookies, scratch lottery tickets, key chains with lucky Asian symbols, mini books on palm reading, zoology, dreams, or even tarot cards could add to the lucky motif.

Finally, consider making a special batch of spice rub (perhaps using Emeril’s recipe) and put it into individual bottles with a label that says something like “perfect blend” and reflects the wedding couple or the general wedding theme. Any or all of these ideas for wedding favors will not only make a great impression on the guests, but will provide a fun and thoughtful thank you as well.

How To Care For Your Swarovski Crystal Wedding Jewelry

I have found that when you wear crystals on a daily basis they tend to lose a little bit of their luster. Let’s face it, the reason why we choose Swarovski is because they are top of the line. There is nothing in the market that will catch your eye and sparkle quite like a Swarovski crystal.

But if you wear crystals over a period of time you may find that they appear to be a little bit dull, not quite as bright as the day that you brought them home. I am going to talk about 2 very simple and inexpensive solutions that you can do at home to keep the brilliance in the jewelry that you love so much.

Most of the things that will take away from the beauty of a crystal are from everyday activities that most women do to take care of ourselves. Hairspray, lotions, make-up, and even oils from our skin can sit on the surface of each facet and mute the brilliance that really makes Swarovski crystal jewelry so unique.

The good news is that it is not difficult or expensive to maintain this beauty. You will find that a lot of the ingredients that I suggest, you probably already have in the house or can easily be purchased at any grocery or convenience store and you won’t break your wallet.

My personal favorite is one that a lot of people carry around with them already, Baby Wipes!!! You will be amazed at how easy it is to restore the shine in your crystals by simply holding a wipe between your thumb and a few fingers and rolling the crystals back and fourth once or twice and move along, continuing the process until you have cleaned all of them. Once you have finished, dry them off with a clean cotton cloth or a tissue, just be sure that it is a plain tissue not the kind that contain lotion.

Another simple way to maintain the brilliance of your Swarovski crystals is to make a solution that contains water, rubbing alcohol, and dish soap, it is a very easy and non-abrasive way to get all the hairspray, facial oils and other things off of the surface of your Swarovski crystal jewelry and restore that incredible sparkle.

In a plastic container that has a sealing lid, add 3/4 cups of water, 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol, and 1/2 tablespoon of dish soap. Close the lid and shake thoroughly to mix the ingredients. Then place your jewelry in the solution and replace the lid. You will only need to eave it in there for one or two minutes, I would not recommend
longer than that unless it is necessary. While your crystals are soaking GENTLY swirl the container for 30 seconds and then let it sit for the remaining minute. Then remove your crystal jewelry and run it under warm water to remove the soap and dry it in a clean cotton cloth. It will look like you just bought it!
